Title: Introduction to Acting (ages 8-12)

Description: In this class, Bettina Devin, award-winning 35-year veteran of stage, screen, and voiceover, most notably her recent role in Chris Columbus' film "Rent" (with principal and lead roles in 4 feature films being released this year), provides a well-rounded introduction to the world of acting. This class combines improvisational games, speech and diction, script analysis, exercises on accessing one's emotions, and a chance to take a crack at actual t.v. and film scripts, all in the safety of a very fun and nurturing class environment.

Title: Voiceover (Ages 10-100)
When: Saturdays, 12:00PM-1:30PM 6 weeks.

Description: Have you always thought or been told you should do voices for cartoons, games or commercials? Northern California is a serious hub for many of the top animation and voiceover houses in the world including Pixar, ILM, Leapfrog and hundreds more. This class (taught by award-winning 35 year veteran of voiceovers, film, and t.v., Bettina Devin) will introduce you to fundamental acting techniques with a mix of improvisation, speech and diction training, and how-to's of understanding what the writers intended for the final characters' voices. This is a hands-on class, as you'll have the chance to record actual copy from all of the above venues. A great class for anyone who wants to improve their speech in general, whether you are in sales, in the corporate world, teaching, or even a student preparing for college interviews. Your voice is your conduit to better communication and success!

Title: On-Camera Acting for Teens and Adults
When: Wednesdays, 6:30 to 8:00 pm, 6 weeks.
Start Date: February 4th, 2009

Cost: $150.00

Description: Topics covered will include continuity, eyeline, creating physical activities, how to prepare for a shoot, cold reading on camera, and of course, exercises and practice on accessing one's emotions and learning to be in the moment.

Title: Singing with the Stars (ages 6-12)
When: Saturdays, 2:00 PM-3:00 PM, 6 weeks.
Start Date: March 2009 Minimum 4 Students/Maximum 8 Students

Description: Your favorite stars are stars due to a combination of luck, talent and TRAINING! Don't be fooled. Whether it's Miley, Jojo, Justin, Zac or Ashley you idolize, it takes on-going training to develop a professional sound. Here's where you can start. Over the past 35 years, Bettina Devin has leant her voice to projects for the likes of MGM, Disney, Pixar, and Leapfrog, and her jazz CD, "Dangerous Type" continues to be played around the country. For 20 years in Hollywood, she was hired to do sound-alikes for hundreds of recording and live projects. In this class, students will be introduced to the fundamental, healthy, and fun techniques used by the pros to build and help keep them in control of their vocal instruments (not to mention related communication skills). Bettina uses the Alessis Playmate to be able to remove lead vocals from students' favorite CD's, change the keys, and customize tracks for students. Bettina fuses her years of experience as a working singer/actress with her love of teaching to create fun and always enlightening classes. Bring a cassette and several of your favorite singers'CD's to class. Lyric sheets are recommended.
